December 24, 2007 at 2:52 AMhi emberswift, Your sentence is also correct: 你为什么一直打哈欠？ (Nǐ wèishénme yīzhí dǎ hāqian?) 一直 (yīzhí) has the feeling of 'continuously' or 'keep on' doing something. 老 (lǎo) has the meaning of 'always (doing something)'.

You will get used to the pronunciations in no time, though. Try using our downloadable pinyin chart, it will help alot!
