Interestingly, last night as I rode my bicycle home (it was freezing last night!), i was thinking as the wind whipped my face, "I think I need a 口罩 (kǒuzhào)!"

hi mandomikey, There are a few different ways to say CD in Chinese. Many people just use the English letters, "CD" pronounced in first tone. Here are a couple other ways: 碟片 (diépiàn) 光盘 (guāngpán) and the measure word is 张 (zhāng)

peterm, In the context of a hotel room number, 1208 would be pronounced: 1208 yāo ér líng ba (sometimes 1 is pronounced yāo in spoken Chinese) So there likely wouldn't be any confusion.

Hi Sebire, Yes, that's right, it's also a measure word: 一间房 (yī jiān fáng) you can also say: 一个房间 (yī ge fángjiān)

hi Bazza, To tell them your card isn't working, you could say any of these: 房卡不能用。(Fáng kǎ bùnéng yòng.) 房卡坏了。(Fáng kǎ huài le.) 房卡不灵。(Fáng kǎ bù líng.) And yes, you can also call it: 钥匙卡 (Yàoshi kǎ)
