I haven't met any Chinese logicians yet, but here are three ways to say that sentence, you can pick which one you like!: 如果你打扫房间,我们就去海滩。 (Rúguǒ nǐ dǎsǎo fángjiān, wǒmen jiù qù hǎitān.) If you clean your room, we'll go to the beach. 只要你打扫房间，我们就去海滩。 (Zhǐyào nǐ dǎsǎo fángjiān, wǒmen jiù qù hǎitān.) As long as you clean your room, we'll go to the beach. 只有你打扫了房间，我们才去海滩。 (Zhǐyǒu nǐ dǎsǎo le fángjiān, wǒmen cái qù hǎitān.) Only if you clean your room will we go to the beach.

August 1, 2007 at 6:50 AMhi archi, 悲伤 (bēishāng) can be used as an adjective (sad) or a noun (sorrow, sadness). So you could say: 我很悲伤。(Wǒ hěn bēishāng.) 我悲伤了很久。(Wǒ bēishāng le hěn jiǔ.) Or use it as a noun, as in the dialogue here.
