May 23, 2008 at 5:53 AMhi dharkon, That this is a question will be obvious from the intonation the speaker uses. Sometime the question marker 'ma' is omitted in this kind of a case.

May 22, 2008 at 5:55 AMlight487, That is how the sentence is said in Chinese. The sentence you proposed sounds awkward in Chinese. It's more like English-Chinese. The pattern is different in Chinese than we would use in English.

May 22, 2008 at 3:24 AMMy favourite things from the Shilin Night Market are the 木瓜牛奶 (mùguā niúnǎi) (Papaya Milkshake) and those spicy corn on the cob roasted over coals. Yum!

May 21, 2008 at 5:23 AMhi joannah, The tone of 太...了(tài... le) is an excited one, like "so great!" The level of emphasis goes like this: 这本书很有用。 Zhè běn shū hěn yǒuyòng. This book is very useful. 这本书非常有用。 Zhè běn shū fēicháng yǒuyòng. This book is extremely useful. 这本书太有用了。 Zhè běn shū tài yǒuyòng le. This book is so useful!!!
