The addition of “了” at the end of the sentence has nothing to do with 一...就 structure. It depends on the latter sentence and follows the rules of 了. Check out THIS Video about the use of 了, and let me know if you have any questions!!

I would say chūchāi is used more commonly in the workspace.

喜欢 should be pronounced as xǐ huan.

In terms of the sentence structure, it is similar, but actually they have different meanings. 

好汉不吃眼前亏 means a wise man knows better than to fight when the odds are against him. This is a quite interesting idiom, I'll take it into consideration for our lesson topics:)
