December 4, 2007 at 11:52 AMAmber, I grew up saying 脚踏车 in Hokkien/Minnan and therefore learned to say the same in Mandarin. It was only three years ago that I learned how to say 自行车 after taking a Mandarin language class。 Art

November 28, 2007 at 4:36 AMJenny, I had read somewhere that Yao Ming is a bit hard of hearing in one ear. An NBA referee had thought that Yao Ming deliberately ignored him until he learned about Yao Ming's hearing problem. So next time, make sure you're standing on the side of Yao Ming's good ear and tell him that he is really tall! :) Art

November 27, 2007 at 5:58 AMI learned about 对's usage four years ago after hearing my Chinese friends use it a lot. Initially, I couldn't figure out why the word correct was used constantly for answering a yes/no question, but over time I learned to say 对 to almost every yes/no question.
