May 3, 2008 at 9:25 AMLight, it appears you just beat me in your post. Just remember that in chinese they often drop words (it is much more efficient than english). I would translate "yīgè guàn de kělè" more as "a (piece) can of cola" but you only need to actually say "a can cola" 一罐可乐. Thanks for your help you are an inspiration with your energy.

May 3, 2008 at 9:19 AMThanks for everyones help. I believe the answer to my question is 一罐可乐 yi1 guan4 ke3le4. Sorry I should have mentioned that I already know ge is the fallback measure word. Hi Light you only need one measure word so your ge is not necessary and 罐头 guan4 tou I have been told is more for tinned food/fruit. 一瓶啤酒 yi1 ping2 pi2jiu3 I also found to be extremely useful in China.

May 3, 2008 at 3:42 AMso Jenny means Healthy and happy ;-) sounds like a good neumonic to me. I was wondering how to say 'a can of cola' ie what is the measure word for can. I noticed the use of ge was not discussed in the lesson possibly a bottle or can. Thanks as always for your help and the new office looks great!

February 26, 2008 at 6:47 AMHi Clay The google ime works for me in ie7 but the windows ime does not. I agree though that it is better to type the pinyin than use the ime which is cheating a little. Great feature.

February 25, 2008 at 11:29 AMI like the new exercise, especially as it accepts both pinyin and characters as answers. I agree with Calkins in that I always forget the words for bank and also post office. I think a good elementary bridge to intermediate may to to have a lesson (or series) on a teacher and student reveiwing a dialog. I think the hardest thing is that Jenny is using words that are not in the current CPod (Newbie/ele) lesson vocab i.e. noun, verb, sentence, ... As others have said though the best way is to plow on and use the dialog only dowloads with the pdf to get the repetition. lastly John and Ken are both great although it is strange to here John speaking so slowly!
