April 27, 2007 at 7:28 AMOh, and I forgot, the pop over vocabulary, what is going on with that? It used to be useful, explanations in Chinese for the new words, pinyin for the old. Then the change happened and it was all in English...and there were a ton of bad translations..now there's just pinyin, even for the new words. This is obviously counterintuitive.

April 27, 2007 at 7:25 AMI encourage Chinesepod to find someone who sounds more bored, more tired, and more despondent to voice the dialogue in the line by line transcription. I'm not falling asleep fast enough right now. :( Is it unreasonable of me to want 2 different people to voice a...dialogue? Inquiring minds desire to know...

I think what happened is basically the team here tailored chinese pod from its original state to the previous (before this one) version, based on requests from the users. But with this release, it seems like they've lost a lot of that work. From what I've read on the blogs it seems to have a lot to do with some abstract educational philosophy, but this version just seems like it has let the philosophy of learning get in the way of actual learning. I find myself coming less and less now, relative to before, because the site loads slower, it's harder to navigate, several key features have been altered...etc. It's just unfortunate. As they say, if it ain't broke...
