Explosive in their brevity they fill one's mind with images.

We responded with, "Good morning Mr./Mrs./Miss surname." In the 3rd grade we were greeted with "Good morning class." Our response was the same. This continued through high school.

Actually, we also had "thee" for the familiar form of thou much like "tu" in Spanish and French. This too disappeared from English.

I'm not sure if many of you recall the 1956 film, "Friendly Persuasion." It's about a pacifist Quaker family during the American civil war. The them song began, "Thee I love, more than the meadow so green and still More than the mulberries on the hill More than the buds of a May apple tree, I love thee .." I had never heard the word "Thee" prior to this and found it to be, even as a child, very touching.

I'm chiming in late but when I was at UC Berkeley in the early 1960's someone did an analysis of 27,000 student's majors with their predicted major according to their 星座. There was no correlation. But, hey, different strokes for different folks (-:

我同意你. 我们喜欢去散步看看. 但是导游在博物馆很有用。

Well actually guys wi-fi passwords are not always hexadecimal (base 16) numbers. It depends on the level and kind of security one uses on your particular wi-fi network. I use WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre Shared Key) and that takes an 8-63 character pass phrase. This can be plain text and is much easier to remember. WEP does use hexadecimal. WEP is less secure than WPA-PSK by the way.

I was wondering about the translation of 联机 as a LAN. Seems to me that 区域网络 is a LAN, and that 联机 is really machine-to-machine which need not involve a LAN.

For example, I have a home network, cat-6 in the walls and two wireless access points one of which is connected to an ADSL service. My home network is not a LAN. It is a sub-network, with a point-to-point connection to a WAN. Right, a tad techie, but that's me.
