March 17, 2008 at 5:33 AMHappy St. Patrick's Day everyone! (Translation anyone?). Great lesson. Henning, this was my first "backwards" lesson. Although it took a bit longer, my retention of the vocabulary (especially the characters) was noticeably better. And listening to the dialogue last definitely made it easier to follow, and more enjoyable. Thanks again for the great tip!

March 12, 2008 at 6:51 PMSteve, the yī in yígòng should be pronounced as a second tone. When yī comes before a fourth tone, it is pronounced in the second tone. Here's a post with all of the tone change rules for yī.

March 11, 2008 at 11:32 PMWow, this expansion sentence blew me away: 车上人很多，吵吗？ chē shàng rén hěn duō, chǎo ma? There are a lot of people in the vehicle, is it noisy? Can anyone explain the 车上人很多 (chē shàng rén hěn duō) structure? To me, it says "car on people very many". Also, I'm half-expecting a 的 (de) somewhere in there.
