March 3, 2008 at 1:18 AMKaisa, thanks for your explanation on 这些 (zhèxiē). It makes sense that you can only use a measure word when describing a certain number of something. 谢谢 !

March 2, 2008 at 4:25 AMsonghailing, thanks for your answer! I'm actually wondering more about 这些 (zhèxiē). I've never seen "these" written this way. Why wouldn't 这本 (zhè běn) be used for "these books..." ? Is there a specific rule for when 这些 (zhèxiē) should be used?

March 2, 2008 at 2:51 AMFun lesson! In the expansion sentence "这些书都是我的" (These books are all mine), does 这些 (zhèxiē) mean "these"? Why is there no measure word for books...本 (běn) ? Would it be wrong to say: 这本书都是我的。 zhè běn shū dōu shì wǒ de. Or would that only mean "This book..." ?
