在我看来,中国东北人比较喜欢吃狗肉。朝族狗肉文化对汉族人的影响好像很大,再说,东北地区气候寒冷,冬季吃狗肉进补暖身很有道理的。东北人吃狗肉的时候一般不喝啤酒而喝白酒,有人说因为喝啤酒会导致肚子里冒气泡,但是我不知道有没有科学的证实。其实我对“暖身作用”也有些怀疑。

Hi dunderklumpen

I'm the one who is ROFL now, hehe. Your translation is, in a way, very "Buddhist", which reminds me of a famous Buddhist phrase "色即是空,空即是色" (Every form in reality is empty, and emptiness is the true form. Joking aside, as for "太空人", the 太 and 空 in the word means "giant, extreme" and "space" respectively.

"古" (tai4 gu3)  "primeval"
"阳" (tai4 yang2) "the sun"
"天" (tian1 kong1) "sky"

Hi pete

"太空人 (taikonaut)" sounds rather weird to Japanese people since the sound "taiko" indicates 太鼓 (drum) in Japanese, but, in a sense, "taikonaut" is a very suitable term for Chinese cosmonauts becasue the PRC government always beat the drum for their national heroes, haha.

Hi bodawei

You will see more 太空人 used in Chinese medias in the (near) future with the rising of nationalism among Chinese people. It's very difficult to develop your original technologies, but it's easy to coin a new term.

Hi erwans,

Haha, you are right. That is only a joke. I hear that being "a healthy vegetarian" is actually not so easy, because vegetarians have to take dietary supplement according to the level of vegetarianism. Addtionally, they need to learn some knowledge about nutrition science.

Anyway, it's a rather tough job for most Chinese locals to consciously become a vegetarian. On the other hand, the diet of poor people in China is already very vegetarian, like it or not, haha. They never understand why some people in such advanced/flourishing countries don't eat meat and fish.

Hi bodawei

现代汉语词典 lists 航天员 (cosmonaut) and 太空人 (taikonaut), but not 宇航员 (astronaut). Chinese authorities usually use 航天员 (cosmonaut) because Chinese space technologies owe much to Russia. I personally don't like the term 太空人 as it reminds me of 外星人/宇宙人 (ET).

As for 想通, the point is that the word has 通 in it, which means "get through".You can feel the nuance of 通 through the examples below,

打通 dig through, get through (on the phone)
开通 clear, remove obstacles from
沟通 communicate with
精通 be proficient in
交通 traffic, transportation
中国通 a guy who really knows about China

想通 understand, realize, be convinced
意识到 be aware of, be conscious of

Hi kuini

师傅 is a bit excessively used in China today. You can even say "师傅,请问一下" when you ask a (male) person for directions on the street. In this case, 师傅 is less formal than 先生, which is also used when addressing a male person.
