I hope so! I think this is just what it takes to be a native speaker, regardless of language. To tell you the truth, I wanted to say the same thing in my previous comment, but I didn't know how to say it in English, hehe!

I think that your example sentences are all correct. You don't need to add "一个" to them. Please don't forget to place "?" at the end of an interrogative sentence. Do you have a Chinese name?

October 21, 2008 at 12:07 PM我平时主要用中文谷歌来搜索资料。我还是觉得百度搜索结果有点不可靠，可能是因为“竞价排名”。其实谷歌也有一个烦人的缺点，就是页面经常打不开。我不知道什么原因，好像是在中国所谓的“宽带”网速缓慢，或者是谷歌服务器远在美国的原故。但是很奇怪，百度从来就没有这个现象。我有时怀疑网络服务提供商是不是故意欺负来自民主主义国家的“谷歌”，有些偏袒国产搜索引擎“百度”。

October 21, 2008 at 4:09 AMSemantically speaking, I think that "下载" (xia4 zai4) is more appropriate than "下载" (xia4 zai3). 现代汉语词典 also says that "下载" should be pronounced as "xia4 zai4", but I found "xia4 zai3" in the vocabulary. Anyway, the second character in a frequently used word like "下载" tends to become "轻声". And, 约定俗成 is also not so bad, I suppose.

Here are other options for you, although I suppose that your wife might want you to 修剪草坪, but not just to 割草, hehe.
mow 割草 (ge1 cao3) / 割草坪 (ge1 cao3 ping2)
mower 割草机 (ge1 cao3 ji1) / 剪草机 (jian3 cao3 ji1)

Looks like that hitokiri was busy doing his homework last night. So let me tell you my search result. The Cantonese word "出年" actually means "next year". For the record, "旧年" seems to be often used in Cantonese to mean "last year", although the word is very formal in modern Mandarin.

That's a good example. "小心地滑" (xiao3 xin1 de hua2) might be appropriately interpreted at 滑雪场 or 滑冰场. Just joking!
