According to 百度百科, there are three different etymologies for 天下没有免费的午餐, and they are all originated in western countries, but not in China. So I agree with Jason. It's highly possible that the Chinese proverb is the translation of an English one "There's no such thing as a free lunch." For the record, there is also a similar proverb in Japanese, i.e. "ただほど高いものはない" (There is nothing more costly than something got for nothing.), and I guess this is a pure Japanese saying......

May 4, 2010 at 7:46 AM太不好意思，我弄错了，请大家原谅。刚才我的那个中国朋友在电话里对我大声说，“你这个家伙太笨，你听错了。我说的不是伊丽莎白二世，而是英国首相撒切尔夫人！你赶紧公开认错吧！” 听了他的话，我也放心点了。好好想了想，在女王面前吐痰还是有点太过分了，呵呵。

May 4, 2010 at 6:01 AM现在我住在东北，看起来东北人还是老样子，到处随地吐痰。说实话，其实我也已经“近墨者黑”了，哈哈。东北的气候很干燥，而且空气不干净，灰尘很多，所以我认为“吐痰”在这里就是一个不可避免的行为。话虽这么说，我还是很想大声告诉东北人，请不要在桑拿浴里随地吐痰，太恶心了！

The Chinese phrase "没有结婚以前" reminds me of "～しない前に" in Japanese, which sounds a little strange to me. Probably there is the same logic (?) behind them.
