I agree that you can say "我舍不得我的PS3游戏" in the case of "it was really fun, I didn't want to leave the game", but what about 我舍不得墨西哥玉米饼 and 我舍不得蒸饺子? I'm still not quite sure about them. Do they really mean "I love 墨西哥玉米饼/蒸饺 and can't part with them/I can't live without them" ?

For example,
a) I have a lot of game machines. Do you want one?
b) Oh, thank you. Would you give me PS3?
a) No. 我舍不得我的PS3游戏。
The Chinese sentence simply means "I don't want let my PC3 go", but I don't think it connotes "I can't live without PC3".

My understanding is (or, was) that “我舍不得 + someone” means "I don't want to leave/part with someone", and “我舍不得 + something” means "I don't lose/waste/throw/give up something". But looks like I was wrong .......

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised to find the example "我舍不得墨西哥的玉米饼" (I can't bear to be without Mexican com tortillas) in today's dialogue section. Do you think this is a standard usage? Is it a kind of "exaggeration" mainly used in conversation?

As zhenlijiang explained, you can't say "我舍不得吃蒸饺" when you want to mean "I can't go without 蒸饺". I would say "没有蒸饺我活不了" (I can't live without 蒸饺) or "我不敢想象没有蒸饺的生活" (I can't imagine life without 蒸饺), although they sound rather dramatic/exaggerated, hehe. Probably just saying "我爱吃蒸饺" would be OK.
P/S. I prefer 水饺 to 蒸饺.

The character "舍" means "throw away, donate, give", so "舍不得" means "don't want to lose something", and the "something" can be a lot of things such as money, materials, love, friends, family and so on. For example, when you say "舍不得离开她 (舍不得+verb)", what you don't want lose is not money but "她" or "her love".
