Hi Shanghai_helios

I just envy you. I prefer thin and crispy pizza, but here in a small city in northeast China, I can get only thick cushion-like pizza.

Hi shanghai_helios

Do you have a choice of "厚 (thick)" or "薄 (bao)" when ordering a pizza in Shanghai?

我刚来中国的时候一直以为“打八折”就是“80%OFF”的意思,后来才知道中国商人没那么大方!

Hi jianpuzhai

Chinese newscasters speak very fast, and it's not so easy to catch what they are saying, but don't worry. They rarely say something really important, hehe.

Hi architpol

In the case of "搬家真辛苦", the "辛苦" is an adjective "hard/laborious/labor", on the other hand, in "辛苦你了/你辛苦了" both 辛苦 are verbs, and the former is a transitive verb (or, an adjective, anyway no difference) and the latter an intransitive verb, and both "辛苦" are often used when thanking someone for his taking trouble, in reality, regardless of who actually caused the trouble. After all, they are merely a kind of "set expression".

I hear that Hainan is notorious for "hard-sell" and "rip-offs".

Hi asia2010

I recommend you say to your friend,
对不起,我明天没有时间,不能去见你。
dui4buqi3, wo3 ming2tian1 mei2you3 shi2jian1
bu4neng2 qu4 jian4 ni3.

Its literal translation should be
我明天无法去见你。

Hi architpol

This "辛苦" is a transitive verb "trouble", and this is the reason the Chinese sentence is translated as "Today I made you guys work hard".
