Actually, Cpod needs more diligent proofreading, preferably by several persons, before uploading lessons. Cpod has both Chinese and English staff members, but it seems to me that they don't fully take advantage of that. Here is the "contact us" page, which John told me before.

You are right. That should be "chang2" (long).

Thanks for the nice explanations. I understand well what you wanted to say with those translations.

I also don't think that they are good translations, but at the same time, I think they are not necessarrily completely incorrect. Let's wait for an explanation from Chinesepod.

I understand what you want to say, but actually those translations, both English and Chinese, are not necessarily incorrect.

我推荐你《东亚三国古代关系史》。这本书记述的是古代中国,朝鲜,日本三国之间的关系和交往。如果你对东亚历史感兴趣,这本历史书肯定值得一读。

"边" (side) is usually used in combination with other characters, just like 那边,这边,两边,半边 and 一边. You can also say "辣的这边" or "辣的这一边". Probably "辣的一边" is more "generic/general", and "辣的这一边" is more specific. Just imagine a guy pointing his finger at one side of a hotpot and saying "辣的这一边先开".

You're right. This lesson might be boring for you, an upper intermediate learner.
