Hey, I'm actually a marketing intern at Praxis Language for the summer. Haha.

Yeah, I'm Chinese American. I'm a fluent speaker, but my writing and reading could definitely be improved. I live in Shanghai right now (you can probably guess that, kinda hard to intern for CPod from the States). I'd definitely benefit from some of the lessons here, but I'll also be answering a lot of questions too.

Nope, using "de shi hou" is very appropriate. You use it when you're talking about a point in time. Since there's no "when" in chinese, saying "Wo dao de shi hou" is the equivalent of saying "when I get there". It literally means "the time that I get there".

I would say 李小姐, instead of 小李姐. That's the equivalent of saying "Miss Li" in English. And I wouldn't use that for close friends either, it's more of a formality.

You should take the pirate comment as a compliment. I would.

1. 我会去北京 is correct too.

2. I would use 会 over 要, because 要 can be confused with "want". I tend to think that 会 is more concrete and definite, as in, you, without a doubt, will go to Beijing.

There's a spectrum of pronunciations that exist between way and wee. Her pronunciation probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Actually, if you're talking about acting as in with motions, you should use 表现biao xian, but if you're talking about voice expressions, you should probably use 表情 biao3 qing2

夸张 kua1 zhang1

Really just means exaggeration, but you can say 他表现太夸张 (ta1 biao3 xian4 tai4 kua1 zhang1), which means "his expressions are too exaggerated".
