Is there any chance you could post the transcript of that extra line that was in the first file? It's bugging me that I couldn't figure it out.

I will have to get one of those I suppose. I hope the text is not too tiny.

I'm making my study materials for this lesson, and the word for umbrella (in an expansion sentence) is new to me. So, that brings up a question I've had for a long time about measure words. Starting today I am going to learn new nouns with their measure words. For example, on the back of the flashcard I will put

yī bǎ  sǎn

一把伞

rather than just 伞.

I found what I assume to be the measure word by looking at example sentences on nciku, but if not for that site, what would one do to find the measure word? My dictionaries do not always have them listed.

Lanzhou is new to me! I look forward to doing a little research, adding it to my "Geography Flashcards" and to my map. Sometimes I feel like a kid in a candy store when studying about China.

For the first time the "Paste from Word" button showed up on my computer, so I'm going to try to post this way. I hope you all don't end up with a lot of coding. My internet truly is so slow and spotty, the graphics most often don't load.

我 的 网 速 这 么 慢!我 经 常 不 能 用 Skype.

wǒde wǎngsù zhème màn! Wǒ jīngcháng bù néng yòng Skype.

My internet is so slow! I often can't use Skype.

What I'd like to say, and it's true...

My internet is not reliable.

Usually it is very slow, even slower than dialup.

Any corrections or suggestions appreciated. This is a great lesson for picking up useful vocabulary.

I've decided to tackle this lesson so I can mark it "studied." Since I knew most of the vocabulary, I looked for some extra to add to my flashcards.
Here's a list of bike-related vocabulary I found to add to my flashcards for this lesson. Many thanks to the original poster. (OP)

我知道一位女人。 她 是忧郁征。 她喜欢吃药。

Wǒ zhīdào yī wèi nǚ rén. Tā shì yōuyùzhèng. Tā xǐhuān chī yào.

I know a woman. She is a hypochondriac. She likes to take medicine.

(I wanted to say "I know a woman who is a hypochondriac. She really likes taking pills!" but had to stick to grammar I with which I was fairly confident.

I really do know this woman. Young, healthy, but she wants the attention of doctors and the people around her. she is making herself sick taking pharmecutical medicines from the U.S. Very sad!

connie, thank you very much! I've been staring at that one for, well, every time I take out the package. There are the tiniest of characters on that box that someday I intend to examine with a magnifier lens.

我最近买了这个软膏在我的当地的中国杂货店。

Wǒ zuìjìn mǎi le zhè ge ruǎngāo zài wǒde dāngdìde zhōngguó záhuòdiàn.

I recently bought this ointment at my local Chinese grocery store.

It's worth the price of the box! The box is of metallic paper, and a swirl design and 999 logo appear when you tilt it.

真酷! Zhēn kù! Really cool! (Corrections very welcome)

999

皮炎 píyán = dermatitis,  平píng = calm, pacify (?) So would that be translated as dermatitis calming?

金嗓子 ---- 片  jīn sǎngzi ---- piān Golden Throat Lozenges.

Does anyone know what that fourth character is? These lozenges are very strong. A Chinese friend introduced them to me. Interesting, they are sold on Amazon! Again, sorry about that triple post.
