Wǒ zuìjìn mǎi le zhè ge ruǎngāo zài wǒde dāngdìde zhōngguó záhuòdiàn.

I recently bought this ointment at my local Chinese grocery store.

It's worth the price of the box! The box is of metallic paper, and a swirl design and 999 logo appear when you tilt it.

真酷! Zhēn kù! Really cool! (Corrections very welcome)

皮炎 píyán = dermatitis,  平píng = calm, pacify (?) So would that be translated as dermatitis calming?

motti, I have terrible listening comprehension, (I'm elementary level) and just about everything seems to go too fast. However, I believe the speed in this lesson to be a moderate normal speaking voice. It seems "too fast" to me because I can't grasp it.

For the lessons I study, I capture the files and slow them down, either with Windows Media Player (10 percent slower option) or with my audio software if I am going to make a CD for the car. If I don't make time to manipulate the files, I just practice saying those sentences myself. Very slowly, then picking up speed as my body/brain is able.

Although I'd prefer a slower speed, in real life, people most often do not speak slowly. It's just the way people speak.

Thank you dunderklumpen. So much to learn, not enough hours in a day. I think it would be helpful if somehow the patterns could be catalogued, and then included in the tags. Maybe...grammar tags could be added to the search function or something like that. Sometimes  I just want lots and lots of simple practice sentences for the patterns.

我帮你拿行李吧。
Help me carry my luggage. 1 (Help me carry my luggage.)

I noticed in this discussion that zhong_bide has called it to our attention, but I just want to remind you that it still isn't fixed.

Thanks. BTW, I want to comment on another thing I love about CP. I do not have the opportunity for speaking/listening practice, so sometimes the  phrasing puzzles me. For example, in the
following expansion sentence:

他一回家就开电脑。
Right after he gets home, he turns on the computer. 1 (Right after he gets home, he turns on the computer.)

I had no idea if the jiu4 is phrased with the first or second half of the sentence. It's just very cool to go back to this website and listen to it, then I can mark my flashcard according. Love CP!

jennyzhu, there is vegetarian "everything" in the U.S. Now that I have watched the documentary movie "Food Inc." I am trying more and more of these weird grocery items.

There is a very funny Everybody Loves Raymond episode where the wives decide to make a tofu turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. They bring out the big "turkey" on the platter (it's traditional to make a big presentation of the roast turkey on a platter) but the "turkey" is white and rubbery and jiggles when they walk.

The sons secretly arranged to have a "real" turkey dinner delivered and it makes the wives angry.

brianhz, I have had those delicious roasted sweet potatoes outside my favorite Korean market. I live in what is probably the largest Korean community in the states. Lots of culture to be seen here. (Why oh why couldn't I have ended up in a Chinese community? No language practice...)
