Listening to the lesson, I realized when I heard "shui3 zhong3" that I really don't know the difference in the pronunication of "xue3" and "shui3" 雪 and 水。

What is the difference? I started hearing Chinese as al older person so I know my ear/brain has not been tuned to the fine points, but perhaps I can at least exaggerate the difference in my own pronunciation if I can learn what it is.

CPod, how do the "Chinese" spammers get in here? They couldn't be paying customers, right?

changye, thank you again for your help! We did learn about the taboo clock gift in CH101, but not much beyond that. I'm a bit of a wrist watch addict and love to give watches as gifts.

Also I appreciate when you guys add vocabulary in the discussion. 我很爱生词。

Please, I'm getting a little lost here. So, is it OK or not OK to give a (wrist) watch? 谢谢你们用英文。

他还小,别骂他了。He's still young. Don't scold him. 1 (He's still young. Don't scold him.) - from the expansion section

Can someone please tell me why “了” is at the end of this sentence and not “吧“?  Does “了” indicate more of a command than a suggestion? sorry if that coding is showing up again...

Any chance someone could answer my questions? I'll repeat -

我的小儿子刚刚买了Android手机。我想试试新的CP app.

(对不对?) What if I want to say "I would like to try the new app on his cell phone"? 我想在他的手机新的CP appl (?) or 我祥用他的......

Which brings up another question: How does one type the "......" six dots/periods when having Chinese selected for the language in Windows? If I try using the period, of course I get "。。。。。。“ If I switch back to English, the dots are inppropriately close together.

xièxiè!

Anyone know how to say "fleece vest"? I just purchased two this evening, and they will get a lot of wear this season. I wanted to post the picture but couldn't figure out how to do that.

vann0000, your pictures are amazingly helpful! Somehow they gave me a "visual tag" of sorts and made studying my vocab and grammar for this lesson much easier.

I hugely appreciate the improvements to the CP site! I've never been able to use the flashcards in the past. Seems I can use them now but I was wondering, is it my computer, or the site - the character is about one third the size of the huge forward and back arrows. Also the font is a "thick" type, not the easiest to read. If I enlarge the screen using the cntrl feature within the browser software, the arrows barely show in the screen and the character gets thicker and thicker. I am the semi-blind one in the group, however, and enlarge everything much more than the average person. Is it possible to change that font so it's not the blocky-thick style? Just wondering, NOT complaining! :)

Again, my bad eyesight is a factor so I am not asking for special consideration, only if there is a way to change the thick font, and if the arrow-to-character ratio is like I describe or if it is my old, crippled laptop! I do pen & paper character writing and in fact am juggling home-made flashcards, notebook and pen with my laptop in my recliner at this very moment as I type.

Love love love ChinesePod! With or without extra features, it's well worth my money.
