Any kind of educational system if it works is good enough for me.

September 5, 2012 at 9:26 AMMy daughter goes to a magnet school (focusing on science and technology) which has very good support from parents. If her school were in a shambles my husband and I would have personally teach her at home.
My experience with some parents who are involved in home schooling unfortunately are unpleasant. Of course this is merely a sample of a very much bigger and complex picture. We cannot generalize.
Socialization for immigrants is a survival issue and I take the socialization process of my children very seriously. If you do not speak English like Americans or do not get along with your coworkers let's see how long you will last in your job.

September 5, 2012 at 9:08 AMMy experience with home schooling has a religious angle to it and if I get into it should fall under religion. I will alway be a Catholic but there are things that some people do that get under my skin.

September 5, 2012 at 1:54 AMJohn, we tend to choose friends or organizations that share our values but in real life we must get along with people whom we sometimes do not even like. I want my children to learn these social skills under our guidance and not to see sins everywhere. What good is a degree from a top university if you cannot work with people or do not know how to treat them with respect and basic human descency?
