That is so interesting. You are British? I'm American. I didn't know anyone ever "drank" soup in English. I love learning how the English language differs from country to country! (And, state to state, within the USA...)

From now on when my Chinese students say "drink soup", I won't correct them; I'll just let them know that Americans and British folk say it differently.

Bababardwan, I've learned much just reading your posts over the years. Even on days I was too tired to read more Chinese, I'd go read your posts, because if I didn't, I was sure to miss out on something interesting, and I'd regret it later! :)

I laughed aloud at that section of the lesson. As usual, Chinese Pod intuits correctly how to make us laugh. And, thereby, how to keep us paying attention. And, thereby, how to keep us learning. :)

Yes, I agree. It is amazing what you can do when you have to.

Yup, my friend and I used to ride on the back of each other's bikes, and whoever was riding always had to hop off at any intersections that had traffic police present. You hop off as you approach the intersection, then scurry across the street as quickly as possible while your friend bikes ahead and nonchalantly stops well after the intersection. Then, you hop back on until you reach the next traffic officer...

Although, as the laws about this became more formal, we did stop doing it. In the city I live in now, though, this law is not enforced (if it exists at all); people ride on the backs of bikes all the time. And, four to a scooter, as you said!
