December 18, 2008 at 3:53 AMI sometimes do a little "bonding" while listening to ChinesePod. LOL
What I have found amazing is that Lan Dai seems to be very popular in China. In several of the nicer hotels I have stayed in the mini bars had Pabst Blue Ribbon in them. That is one of the cheapest least popular american beers around. I for one like Tsingtao. I also like Harbin.

December 6, 2008 at 2:26 AMmala? When my girlfriend and I were in Fushun having dinner with her sister and husband, they ordered a beef dish that had a dipping sauce that I swear was lava. I had sweat over my eye brow just looking at it. I got enough heat from it just barely touching the sauce and they were eating pieces of meat with the sauce just oozing over the meat.
I've been there 3 times now for 8-10 days each time and I don't believe that I've eaten rice once. Noodles with just about every meal. There doesn't seem to be anything that is traditionally breakfast, or traditionally lunch etc.

December 5, 2008 at 12:59 PMI agree with hughchina in the fact that it might be just a tad fast for this level. I appreciate the fact that we need to get into normal conversation pace, but I didn't really hear everything until the 2nd time of the second go round and that was because I knew what was coming. This might be best though, I have mixed feelings... Thanks CPod for keeping it interesting!

December 3, 2008 at 3:14 AMThough I knew it was made with love, I didn't realize until this lesson that a sweater my girlfriend gave to me last week was actually (aixin maoyi) 爱心 毛衣. A red sweater with my name in english, hers in hanzi, the word LOVE and a little likeness of my dog, all in silver sequins. I really felt special opening it and now I feel even more special knowing that there really is such a thing as a "Love sweater"

December 3, 2008 at 1:35 AMI have that Lan Dai is a very popular beer in China. We here in the US only drink it because it is cheap here. I much prefer the Chinese Tsing Tao, Harbin, Yan Jing, and Auntie's Tiger and Singha. I must make it a point to try the Bai Jiu on my next trip.

December 2, 2008 at 5:38 AMSome stores here in the US will give you 5 or 10 cents credit if you use your own bag or return a paper bag that came from that store.

December 2, 2008 at 2:17 AMChinesePod goes green!!
Though the guy was speaking a bit fast, I think it was good to hear this at what would be a normal speed. I usually appreciate things being a little slower, but this was all vocabulary I already knew and hearing it faster was good for me. I didn't understand him until the second time. Thanks CPod.

November 30, 2008 at 1:19 PMThanks Tvan, Pinkjeans and Hwangd01. I'm glad to know that it isn't only my ear, but most westerners as well. Perhaps after tying my tongue in a knot a few hundred times I'll get it. :)
