I always make my case stand out from the crowd by tying different colour ribbons on the handle and sticking labels with my callname on front, back, sides and bottom of the case. That way I have never missed a turn at the conveyor belt, except when I am waiting near the wrong belt, hehe.

Sorry folks I tried for an hour to post some photos of Tian'anmen Square in preparation for National Day late September 1988, but simple cutting and pasting did not work. I have noticed from other poddies, it must be possible, but I have not yet discovered the secret.

Is there anyone who can help me out?  It would be much appreciated.

Sory folks, I tried for an hour to paste some photos of Tian'men just before National day late September 1988, but alas, simple cutting and pasting did not work.

Watching the videos posted by Jenny and SANP made me re-live the scenes I saw on CCTV-4 news and I cried and cried. My friends in Chengdu sent a message that they were all o.k. That was a relief. But I am so sorry for all these people who lost
everything, their children, parents, relatives, homes and belongings. And I felt angry and asked myself WHY,WHY,WHY.........
This once beautiful, prosperous province lies in ruins with many of its people buried under tons of rubble.
And I wish I were young again so I could help shifting the rubbish with my bare hands....
But now all I can do is cry, cry....

Sorry Poddies but I had to get this off my chest.

John, just follow the current Chinese news bulletins and you will find plenty of topics for your tragedies.

During every visit to my friends in China I get dragged to one of the kareoke bars, where I become the unimpressed spectator, wishing I had earmuffs to lower the volume somewhat. Then at home another session on their Hi-Fi for the benefit of the neighbours. These days I do not contribute because my voice resembles the sounds of my coffee maker. However, some years ago I could not escape becoming a performer when I was travelling on a Chinese tour to JiuZhaiGou with some of my friends' kids. Everybody on the bus was required to sing something and as I could only think of 'Twinkle twinkle litte star...' and 'Walzing Matilda', I settled for the latter when it was my turn. This caused a spontaneous clapping accompaniment with the rhythm of the song, the words of which I made up as I went along, because nobody could understand me anyway. Not much time for song and dance in Sichuan at the moment though!

Calkins, Hear hear! Well said. Your comment reflects my feeling exactly. Thank goodness we have never been lumbered with such a moron, although we came close with our previous munchkin.

Ah, beautiful Paris! Haven't been there for a while. Still remember the great view from the first platform of Le Tour d'Eiffel. Do they still have those unique and colourful(green) pissoirs, where you can gaze at the passing traffic while uttering a sigh of relief.....
