November 27, 2013 at 9:24 PMI spent this september in china for the first time travelling alone. It only happened to me once in xi an. I got charged 96 kuai where in other restaurants normally i got charged about 10 for the same thing. I didnt' argue i just paid and left. With this same restaurant, when i entered the waiteress said in chinese. "We have a laowai!" Not realising i spoke some chinese. I said dui. wo shi yi ge laowai. she then looked really embarrassed saying dui bu qi dui bu qi, which i thought was really funny. I maybe should have guessed at this point they were going to rip me off.

October 27, 2013 at 11:24 AMI'm surprised 样 (yàng) wasn't mentioned. I thought the two most common ones are zhong and yang. I always get these two mixed up. Where does 样 fit in?

October 25, 2013 at 8:20 PMFor 'wǒ de gǒugou diū le'. it's translated as my dog is lost. If i want to say I've lost my dog. Do is say 'wǒ diu wo de gǒu le' or does 'wǒ de gǒugou diū le' also mean i've lost my dog.
Thanks
