Hi,

If you're in China, downloading files might be a problem from time to time, since local internet is often... unreliable. We're still not sure what exactly is happening, since things seem to be inconsistent. For example, we're in Shanghai, but not having trouble on our internet even though other Shanghai users sometimes do.

If you can use a VPN, we recommend it. Our media files haven't been blocked, but they do seem to be behind some kind of bandwidth filter, meaning that at different points in the day, download speeds will vary.

We are looking into different options to see if we can navigate around these local issues.

Best,

JC

Hi Bababardwan,

This is known to happen from time-to-time, especially if you haven't logged out of the website in a while. If it's just one lesson, that's nothing to worry about it, but if it starts happening frequently, please let us know!

Best,

JC

We first notified Skritter about the API changes in 2010. We've been running a new API for a while now and finally shut the old one down last week. Skritter has recently been in touch with us, and we're working on getting everything back up and running.

Hi,

I just took a look at your account, and as far as I can tell, you're not subscribed to Media or UI lessons. Your Advanced lessons seemed to be in place, but keep in mind that they are only updated once every other week or so.

As for the dialogue not downloading, do you mean the MP3 or the line-by-line audio?

Hi,

The current app is really designed for iPhones, so even though it can be used on iPads, it can be unstable. On top of that, the app itself is known to be a bit unreliable. We're working on totally revising the app, but in the meantime we recommend users regularly log out and back in to the app, which will help minimize memory usage, and make sure that you're not running to many apps in the background.

This joke's pretty straight-forward. Not really any wordplay happening; the joke translates easily to English telling. The frustrated boy takes off his shoes to reveal his feet and turns the test question around on the teacher by asking her to look at his feet and guess which student he is.

I told this to my grandma the other day and she got a big kick out of it.

Hi,

Can you elaborate a bit more about the failing download?

Often both. That Air Shark will find it's way to Yuyintang in the near future.

Shanghai's own aquarium in Pudong is very good. I have a VIP pass and go there often.
