October 10, 2007 at 7:44 PMpulosm, haha, actually i think dutch law resembles Chinese law more than American/British law! we don't have a jury system, and even though precedents can be important, written law is more important in the Dutch law system I have to translate tomorrow at the court in Amsterdam, in a very important trial, from 9.00 to 17.00 it's the first time I have such a big asignment, so i'm a bit nervous.. used this lesson to get in the "mood" ;-)

October 4, 2007 at 5:33 PM@ Rich are you sure the book she mentioned is Chengzi? I thought the 庄 character reads 'zhuang', Zhuangzi de zhuang (the one with the dreams about butterflies..). it would make for an even beter name!

September 28, 2007 at 7:03 PMmaybe it's a good idea to include the "beifang"/standard forms of maternal grandfather and -mother in the vocabulary list? since i've only studied chinese in beijing, i'd never heard of 'waipo' and 'waiye'!
