Since when do Chinese babies have big noses?

An American firend of mine has a Tianjin wife. They had their first baby March last year. During the pregnancy it caused an "alarm" during the Ultrasound. The technician saw the "baby" (1/2 term) and ran out alarmed. 2 minutes later she returned with 3 Specialists, who fussed over the pictures until the future Mum asked "What's the matter?"

"oh, nothing. Just the nose is very big". She responded "My husband is American". They nodded their heads "oh, he's a foreinger? That explains it".

I don't ask too many grammar questions, use to my poor understanding, but it's good to read other's comments. Wish CPod would translate some of the Chinese into Pinyin for lowers like me! Can't read too many characters. However, I found this lesson to have great vocab & grammar. Once I went to QuFu with my wife and had a chinese guide. Had I know this lesson, I could have followed better (no english).

Nuts! Yes, I've noticed that the solution to all ailiments is to "eat" and/or drink (water/tea). May explain why there are so many of them.

Good to hear John. Yes, since coming to the Middle Kingdom, I was distressed at groosly wrong knowledge of where they come from. They are from my home of Queensland, hence "Queensland Nut", or more correctly "Macadamia Nut". They are a Rainforrest nut.

They were taken by some asute American businessmen in the 30's I heard.

Jenny or other counsellors, but correct me if I am wrong. I've been in China over 9 years, though a chinese marriage and many local friends, I find this lesson unusuall in that it doesn't happen this way. Is it a new (modern) trend with Chinese? Or just another Western ideal "borrowed" and applied here?

I found chinese girls brush off guys like this. "Friends"? Not so.

Yes, this was a better lesson: both topic and structure.

Thing is, I find here in China that the schools / comapny want to find cheaper people rather than keep good staff (foreigners). Oh, well, maybe I shoudl start my own company?
