February 10, 2010 at 4:37 AMImportant question to our Chinese consultants: Why can't you flush toilet paper down a modern Chinese toilet?
First time I came to China, 1996, I understand, but now...............?

February 10, 2010 at 4:35 AMOn you pretzellogic ! I wondered that myself. Also, how did the repair dude work out all problems so quickly? Universal Plumbers code "Bang all metal pipes, frown, mutter strange sounds long enough to go over the free first 15 minutes, before saying " I can't fix it now, and it will be very expensive".

February 9, 2010 at 7:02 AM@john. In the lesson you ask if any of us get Bonuses.
No! I've been here for over 9 years, and I've learned that schools & companies we work for (Chinese) generally consider us to be overpaid anyway, and under worked. Sadly negative, but true.

February 9, 2010 at 6:52 AM@jenny. Not as such, but teachers do get the Summer 8 weeks, and a "Leave Loading" of 17.5% (Australia). I believe some Australian Companies pay bonuses, but not neccesarily End of Year. Maybe End of Financial Year, and these are usuallyFat cats.

February 9, 2010 at 5:43 AMAnother great lesson, & topic. I enjoyed it as the grammar lends itslf to buying/shopping for a variety of other things here in China.
You could build on this topic to encorporate other usefull situations.

February 9, 2010 at 5:33 AMYes it would John. Either that, or simply approach members whom you think have ideas.
Like me.

January 29, 2010 at 12:03 PMInteresting lesson. Disapointing that it is still a problem here in the Middle Kingdom.
I guess it's like Dovorces, where both parents ( in many cases) don't want the kid because they can't have one with another spouse, easily.
A teachable lesson.
