November 13, 2009 at 5:45 AM@_tal_. I thoroughly agree with you. This lesson is way too short, however, a thoroughly useful and great lesson nonetheless. So have said others.
Why is "playing the drums" so different? Heard the dialogue but don't really get the meaning.
Oh, @CPod. Is there a "Chinese Idol 3"? Thought you could extend the vocab etc. I feel this was better than the first, but "hunger for more!" My (chinese) wife liked this lesson as well.
She is a GuZheng player, while I am a guitar, Bass, & ErHu musician. Great stuff!

November 11, 2009 at 10:32 AMYes, a great lesson!
I've just downloaded it after a week or so with the Link in the Inbox.
Why do I see so much realism in this lesson? "When you bought them, you didn't say which feet you wanted" is such an accurate line given when you do business in China. Lies are a standard part of business here, but telling most chinese this upsets them. Sadly, I believe chinese are used to it. And the "There's no quality issues".
I just wish CPod could have included advice on how to follow upon receiving such service when we may experience it.

November 3, 2009 at 5:44 AMFinally got the net connected in my new home.
@isiz3245 . This isn't so much childish (Facebook game), as it it is addicitive. Peronally, I find the cows and other animals inane smiles stupid. But the game is addicitvfe, like many PC games. My (chinese) daughter likes Kaixin Wang, and she's 18. Now she is inOz preparing for Univeristy and we morry she plays this too much.
@jennyzhu. I think it doesn't have a lot of charm. Pepople just like to play games on PC, and the Net is a good source. I think China has so muc free/cheap games online, that it is the source of many (mostly) young boys getting addicited and not attending class. This is destroying the lives of many good chinese kids. We saw one kids, son of a freind's Aiyi, do this. Even stole 200 RMB from my (Pakistani) friend, and disaapeared ofr 2 -3 days.

Great lesson.

October 12, 2009 at 4:50 AMI enjoyed this lesson.
When I was courting my (chinese) wife, I finally found a place that sold flowers. She is the only woman I know who doesn't like Choclate! Anyway, found Roses at Carrefoure, but....... while gorgeous, they had absolutely NO bouquet!!!
Well..... she still married me. I feel this lesson lends itself to a followup, like a wedding or something.

October 10, 2009 at 10:00 AMI used Shi san dian in my Cultural Advisor's Family home (my wife, & her sister's residence). They laughed, and like with Er Bei Wu, it is a "bad" insult, used as a jok IN a home only, but "Lao gong, don't use it outside. They may beat you".
Haven't heard it outside anyway.

October 5, 2009 at 7:17 AMI take it you are in Qingdao, like I am (for holiday). It works well, as I am in Bookcity. Must be your connection.

October 5, 2009 at 7:03 AM@matt, I agree it's got off on a tangent.
Yes, I'd like to know the names/addresses of those ladies in Red & White. Actually, also the ladies in tai's story,.. "glamboots"?
Heck, no wonder no country wants to take on this front line troops!!
anyway, back to the dialogue. Pity we couldn't have spoken more about such "soldiers" and other items, like on this year's parade. I mean about the participants. Chinesepod, can you make a short series out of this? I think it lends itself to various stories.

October 2, 2009 at 3:22 AMI loved the Parade yesterday.... ON TV. When friends asked me would I go and watch, I asked "Why?". Beijing's subways are like it's roads... but jammed with people, and that's normal. On Oct 1? No way, AND they blocked the #1 & #2 Subways anyway. I agree with another comment about being in the crowds. TV is much better, even if we had been allowed to go there.

September 30, 2009 at 3:18 AM@chinesePod. Can you guys use Pinyin when you answer grammer questions? I am (chinese) illiterate so I can only study your grammer comments, answering the fortunate few students who can understand characters, when you do so.
I have a chinese tutor who insists on the REAL Chinese, but it will be time before I can read them!

November 18, 2009 at 11:01 AMAfter sorting through old emails, I found this one for this lesson. Actually, I thought it was the one about Travel/Cities seris, and then learnt I hadn't downloaded.
@jennyzhu, & others who made the comment about the Cat crapping it out. As I Biology teacher, I know that animals eating a fruit", and digesting all bar the seed, is a major metho of Seed dispersal for some plants. In fact "Baby Krakatora" (norn after Mummy blew up) was mostly repopulated with plants this way, albeit via birds pooping at the right moment.
Oh, Jenny, or Connie, I don't understand how you said "crap it out" using La. Is this a reference ot La Dozi?
Must go through the lesson properly anyway.
