October 29, 2015 at 4:46 AMThanks for pointing out differences in word usage between Taiwan and the main land in this lesson.

October 17, 2015 at 2:54 AMMy impression is that 礼拜,星期 and周 are pretty interchangeable. 星期 is the more formal one, and more likely to be used in written contexts. For everyday speech, Taiwan people tend towards 礼拜, and mainland people towards 周。Although, I think both are understood in both places.

October 2, 2015 at 5:36 AMIt seems like many of the recent lessons have been teaching us to speak in a different register, that of day traders. I'm not quite sure what to make of this, but if CPod is adopting a more business focus to its lessons, I'd like to see a bit more variety, like discussions about technical specifications, marketing, sales, HR. ...only so long I want to spend in the trading pits.

September 26, 2015 at 4:18 AMFor sentences where either 都 or 也 could be used, is there any difference in connotation between them?

September 25, 2015 at 4:38 AMYes, it is kind of a patchwork lesson.

August 9, 2015 at 3:36 AMThe last couple week's lessons have taken a bit of a departure from teaching us modern colloquial Chinese. A little bit of a departure is ok, but the coloquial Chinese is what I come to Chinesepod for. ...on the off chance anyone cares.

July 25, 2015 at 5:44 PMI think mostly people from Taiwan have mentioned the 你吃了没 greeting to me. I don't recall anyone actually greeting me that way, though. I'm not sure why. Maybe, there is some inkling that I will find it weird. Mostly, I get 早, 你好 or 最近还好吗
I have been called uncle sometimes, 马克叔叔. I think mostly by people about a generation younger than me. One adolescent called me, 爷爷,but other people told me I'm not, that, old, and should have scolded her for doing so.

July 12, 2015 at 1:56 PMWhat is "standard" English? Is there such a thing?
Posted on: Measure Words for Verbs 动量词
July 3, 2015 at 3:05 PMI thought I was going to learn a new word, until I realized that 輪 was just the 繁体字 version of 轮。
I did learn something from this lesson, though. Although I have been using the words discussed, I didn't realize that 动量词 was a grammatical category, and picked up a few subtle points about their usage.

October 30, 2015 at 2:48 AMThe UI for switching between the skit and the lesson banter videos is not intuitive and very annoying.
I like the lesson, though.
