My grandfather loved to eat sushi and sashimi. He spoke Japanese and was in Taiwan during the time the Japanese took over Taiwan for a time. There are many remnants of the Japanese takeover that can be seen in Taiwan today. I remember going to the market and waiting in discreet locations while my grandfather would haggle prices for fresh sashimi at the market. He had to go behind my family's sight to do this because most of my family already went vegetarian. He had a few good cheat days. Thanks for this lesson! I was able to share my memory with my mother while I listened to this lesson.

Fiona, you and Gwilym are so cute together.
You guys are like a celebrity couple!

It's still not professional, though, even if they uploaded the wrong file and had a revised version ready. They should double check the files and make sure they have the correct one up. Students usually follow the dialogue word for word and are learning during these lessons. That was pretty distracting. I really hope Chinesepod continues to strive towards excellence.

This story truly hit home. I remember all the stories the adults told each other when I was younger during holiday parties. They would tell each other of the schemes they had been duped into. There were so many people who would trick their fellow countrymen and women into giving money and they would just disappear. "How could they do this to people from their own country? How is that right?" So many people were tricked by their very friends. It is quite sad to hear.

I love Chinesepod and hate to be critical... but the voice acting seriously needs improvement. If there was a mistake.. they should probably restart and redo it. I heard someone ask a question and then say "sorry". This has never happened before on the lessons I've heard, ever. Please keep the quality high.

I love this lesson! Thanks for explaining the differences in culture and language. I'm glad these lessons are created with "Taiwanese" Mandarin! The subtle differences really do make a difference.

I was reminded of Moana's pet chicken named "Hay Hay" when I saw this photo. For those who haven't seen the flim, please do! It's very good.
