October 30, 2010 at 9:58 AMSimilarly, RCK, I am mocked in Singapore for sounding so "mainland".
One suspects that for most of us, the main accent that we're going to have is British Chinese or American Chinese or Aussie Chinese etc. Just like a Chinese person will still sound very Chinese whether they've learnt (yes, learnt!) their English in London or Manchester.

July 20, 2010 at 2:44 PMMy fault, I read "leave sex out of the home" as "have sex out of the home"!

July 20, 2010 at 9:51 AMOMG, just realised what you were talking about. I was thinking for a not insignificant amount of time that you were saying Chinese people only ever had sex outdoors!

July 19, 2010 at 1:43 PMI had no problems catching trains in China without English assistance, and my Chinese is fairly rudimentary. If you can say "I want to go to x on Thursday", and you know the word for top, middle, bottom and hard sleeper, it's not difficult at all.

July 12, 2010 at 5:56 PMSometimes watch the 6 Nations, but the rules confuse me. Tennis is the only sport I partake in, it's great!

July 12, 2010 at 2:25 PMThing is, the culture shouldn't be "try to foul as much as possible and see if we can get away with it". That's the whole problem with football. Diving, dissent and hacking is such a blight on the game, which is why I usually watch tennis and cricket. There ought to be penalties against teams that play dirty as a tactic brought by FIFA after the match, rather than rely on carding.
