So is it the same rule with 到 and 来/去? I never understand that sandwich. Or just 到 in general, which I feel is a somewhat fundamental word not to understand.

More early lessons? But it's still Saturday?! What is going on?

The word "drivel" has been overused and I'm rather bored of it. Please pick one of the following options:

babble, balderdash, blather, bunk, double-talk, gibberish, gobbledygook, hogwash, hooey, jabber, nonsense, poppycock, prating, rot*, rubbish*, tripe, twaddle.

* = informal/non-formal usage

I am going to stick to my own personal favourite, "rubbish".

Sticking 胡说 into a Chinese thesaurus, the following options are available:

  • 口翕得就口翕
  • 大放厥词
  • 妄说
  • 扯淡
  • 扯臊
  • 信口开河
  • 信口雌黄
  • 胡扯
  • 胡说
  • 胡说八道
  • 胡诌
  • 乱弹琴
  • 乱讲
  • 搬弄是非
  • 嘴舌
  • 瞎扯
  • 瞎说
  • 嚼舌根
  • 嚼舌头

Whether these are any good, I haven't the faintest idea, so use at your own risk!

Wow, this podcast has been published early! I never see new ones at this time of the day!

Yeah, dunderklumpen. I've tried to read that before, and it hurts my head after a while. It's a lot to take in!

Paulinrus,

America may have legendary levels of customer service, but what comes with that are legendary levels of insincerity. I personally would not serve a customer that was rude and abusive, particularly to other customers. What damn right do they have? I would tell them where to shove it if they riled me. But then, I'm not American.

Joachim, stuff like mai3dao4 and mai3 de dao4. (What is the difference? How do you use it?) Sorry, am currently lacking Chinese input modes (mai3 as in buy and dao4 as in arrive).

I wonder how many of these "newbies" that complain about "drivel" happen to be the same troll? It has been flame wars, trolls and sock puppets that have been the main cause of unpleasantness in the community for several weeks, and now said troll is today gloating publicly whilst still goading Poddies. To me, that is the most off-putting thing in the community, not light-hearted off-topic ramblings.

Indeed, I lurked for ages before joining in somewhat, and it was because I thought I had nothing interesting or useful to add as a Newbie. However, I think it was the realisation that you don't have to say anything particularly relevant or clever, and that you could ask the stupidest question you like that encouraged me to join in.

I vote for Henning's idea. Sort it out, Henning...

Hmm, I hope this doesn't make CPod a less fun place, if it is even workable.

Would it be an idea for there to be a flag or something for people who post specific language questions? In the activity stream, answers turn green if they are right - can it be similar in the comments, so if someone has a question it is not "lost" so easily?

这个课教得很好。

Will the 请问 team be doing the resulative and potential complement any time soon? Along with the 把 series, that would quite possibly make my year.
