@light487 You can eat fish with chop sticks. you might want to use a spoon as an assist. The bones are tricky and it depends on the type of fish. I has one dish where it seemed like the bones of the fish were woven. The trick is to develop a light touch. Try eating jello, or custard with sticks. You can then lift the fish off the bones (in many cases). !! If the fish is done well/right after the meat is picked off the top half, you should be able to lift the bones out pretty much as a unit. Don't turn over the fish! That is supposed to be bad luck, and might concern others at the table. p.s. the fish usually comes to the table head and all. Or you might encounter fish head soup. I also was serve pig's knuckle soup. I'd stick with the fish.

Looking forward to new MM. Two words: Napoleon Dynamite. I would really like to hear how that one gets dubbed. If you've never been to the land of Elvis sightings and 20 year old moon boots, it probably doesn't hit you quite the same.

I like cats. My sister love them. I must tell you that if the cat learns to work the can opener--watch your back! p.s. Was Connie inhaling Helium? Great lesson.

Richard's crosstalk reminds me of some of my faster talking colleagues (no speed limit). Echoing Calkins' comment, I would like to ask what coffee does he drink. re: New office--the pictures great. It is a very nice space. I don't think you guys will miss the old green walls. But you may have recurring dreams about them.

With all the talk about the WC, some might want to check out the Dear Amber on Non-Chinese Speaking Tourists and Toilets. http://chinesepod.com/extra/the-non-chinese-speaking-tourist-and-toilets/discussion I found some places have WC on the sign. Also learning the characters for male and female can help avoid an embarrassing situation (男/女) But anybody that allows himself to be photographed in a sweater-vest is likely to have issues.

Then you have 上午 和 下午。 I guess that sort of reinforces the paradigm of time rolling downhill. Of course--if you think of noon 中午 as the apex of the day it's a little confusing.

But not just angry--intellectually angry. So--anger with a higher level of discourse.

Great Dear Amber!! I really like hearing David's perspectives on westerners. re: changing clothes--my first encounter with this was in college (in the US). Some profs had M-W-F suits and T-TH suits. Definitely a mental adjustment. I totally get the 'fries on the tray'. A lot of places (in the west and elsewhere) just spritz the tray with disinfectant and wipe then off with a rag--part of a cost savings. Sometimes you wonder where that rag has been.

Light487, 有 -- you3 (have) was put in the expansion as 'some'. That confused me a bit too.
