Though I learnt more Chinese grammar when I was in college since my major is to 'teach Chinese'. My knowledge of 'adj' 'noun' 'adv'... is from my English teacher.
So you English teachers are impressive!

December 21, 2012 at 9:19 AM这个其实不同的语言不一样。I don't know a lot of language. For Chinese, 谓语 could be verb and adj.
她很漂亮。 Here 'pretty' is a 谓语。But for English, I don't think adj could be 谓语。 'She is pretty' 'is' is 谓语，it's still a verb.

But I am afraid in cable car, too. So it doesn't sound different for me.

December 21, 2012 at 8:45 AMBoth of them are right. “个” is a very general measure word. So for companies, banks, shops, movie theaters, restaurants, post offices, hospitals, 个 is also right. We don't use it for 'family' a lot. So just for business.

December 21, 2012 at 8:42 AMProbably I will say "你现在是单身吗？" nǐ xiànzài shì dānshēn ma? We will use '现在' to emphasize 'yet'.
It's still weird to ask that due to the culture. Probably Chinese will ask 'how is your boyfriend" instead. 你和你的男朋友怎么样？

We do have a standard system for different levels. Such as: which vocabulary or sentence pattern should be used in which level. But I agree with you that sometimes, it's not that accurate. Especially when we compare an old one to a new one. One reason is our mind is changing. There must be some different from 2005 to 2012. Something we think unimportant in the past may become important now.
I apology to the inconvenience we caused. We will be more careful and try to produce better lessons and service.
