You don't really think there is something superior about spelling honor with a u do you? Come on. It makes no real difference. It's just a pointless way to pick on Americans. But if we insist on getting picky, the or/our in honour doesn't sound like 'our'. It sounds more like 'or'. Not too mention we can save paper by reducing the size of the words.

Half the time Brits don't pronounce their r's. Seems a bit hypocritical to me, so I don't buy this h should be heard when we say herb theory :-).

Seriously, why are all of you Brit English spellers so into preserving the Norman influence on English? You even use Autumn over the beautiful and pure Germanic word known as Fall.

The British spelling for centre, metre makes less sense to me. After all, this isn't French ;-).

Just curious, just how similar is Shanghainese to the Suzhou and other surrounding areas' dialects?  It is my understanding that the some of these dialects are mutually understandable with Shanghainese.  Does this mean that after listening to this series we can say a sentence or two to those people and they will understand us?

I just found a related blog post from a Chinese student.

Today,I attend the test of C langugage program,but it isn't my major,and I just wanna a certificate for my future jobs.So I learn it on my weekneds day.Through the case,I find that it is unfair in society.most of students pay money for the test,and they send message to copy the answers,which makes me in a low sprit.I konw it is very dirty and insecure to do this.it belongs to the black operations,some people know nothing about it,however they can pass the test smoothly,I know it is a big problem in education system.why the hot of taking certificate spread so crazy in China?It attracts thousands clledge students to attend in every year,just like me,I am not majoy in the computer,but I wanna the certificate.because many companys pay more attenion on the different kinds of certificates.owing to the situation,many orgnazitions provide the services for the students who wanna a certificate not giving much energy .I don't critisize anyone,just wanna to erperss

my inbalanced mood on the test.I believe no pain no gain.From now on,I will be determined to pay more attenion on my major.I need to strongthen myself to adapt to the complicated society.
