August 24, 2009 at 1:17 AMI got a question
I recently wanted to say, "I want to work Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays." I translated it as 关于我上班的时候,我想把星期二变成星期三. I think the grammar here is okay, but it seems completely unnatural. Can somebody 'naturalize' this sentence for me? Thanks in advance.
PS: Love the changes CPod. Keep up the good work!

I was watching a movie on Chinese TV last night. It had something to do with the legendary Cao Cao. Somebody said to somebody, "保重." That doesn't mean it is authentic old Chinese of course. But it would lead me to believe that it wasn't too new sounding, otherwise they wouldn't have included it.

我认为杜老板的行为不是为了钱,反而是为了邪恶!

August 21, 2009 at 2:57 AM我特别喜欢去菜场,因为他们不会说英文,所以每次经历纯汉语环境。
I got a question
我想表现"weigh",比如说,“你能不能weigh这些蔬菜?”哪一个词最合适,‘约’还是‘称’还是两都可以?

August 21, 2009 at 2:43 AM你们不知道为什么他老婆很忙吗?很明显,不是别人,正是杜老板,她得准备防御麒麟人们的入侵。

Yes, I absolutely would say, "Did you have a good day?"
Is there any sort of colloquial way to express good feelings and wishes to a Chinese person when we say good bye? For me, just saying good bye is not friendly enough, but that quite possibly is a cultural matter.

干吗 and 为什么 feel different. 为什么 is used when the person who is asking is unclear about something and truly wants an answer. 干吗 has a criticizing tone, sort of a 'why on earth are you...' kind of statement, and thus often is a rhetorical question.

August 24, 2009 at 1:42 AMOkay CPod, please don't hate me. But can you please fix the pdf? The the order of the vocabulary list doesn't match the dialog again. I like to listen to the dialog while looking at the vocab list. This way I can practice my listening. (If I read the dialog while listening at the same time, my listening ability doesn't improve much.) But if the order is mixed up, like it is now, this technique won't work. This isn't asking for much, right?
