got a question

"I don't want to be (your mother/a doctor/an annoyance/a burden)"

那你觉得“as big as Texas”怎么样?

I wonder if you can respond to my response to your previous post?

Your response is weak.  You seem to be just reading events how you want to.  You hate America, well that's fine.  But you can at least back up your claims with solid sources when you make wild accusations.  Can you offer transcripts of government officials saying, "Let's start a war so that we can sell weapons."  If you can provide such a source, I will have reason to believe you.  I have read about the Vietnam War, and I have seen some things that deeply disappoint me about America regarding this war, but I have never seen anything that says, "Hey let's start a war in Vietnam for the economy."  As of now, you appear to be some person who hates America and will just jump on any theory that will satisfy your anti-American stance.  However, I will be willing to suck in my pride if you can produce any evidence.

Tal, Changye and anybody else

I think maybe you already tell.  I'm not necessarily saying all the things I mentioned are right.  I'm more or less saying the answer isn't quite so clear-cut.  It would be nice if people didn't use strong language based on flimsy evidence (or no evidence).

Your Vietnam theory is quite suspicious.  It seems like there are a lot better ways to prop up an economy.  It sounds like the sort of conspiracy theory that one produces when one hates something so much that one is willing to believe anything.  I wonder if you can come up with reputable sources?

I wonder if you would have rather the US not got involved in World War II?  Would the world have been a better place if we hadn't?  Are you saying that wasn't defensive?  Are you saying a million American service men should have lost their lives in an invasion of Japan so we could avoid using the nuclear bomb?  What about Korea?  Would you rather it be a communist state?  As for the War of 1812, should we have continued to let the UK restrict our trade and impress our soldiers?  Should we just let all tyrants attack countries so that we don't get involved in wars?  Will the world really be better?  You may be against the death penalty (and actually I am too), but is it really 'scary' to execute people who have commited unimaginable crimes?  Would you rather we didn't have the civil rights movement?

I'm an American, but I know my country has done some rotten things.  I'm not arguing against that.  But I also know that it has done a lot of good things (which rarely get mentioned these days).  I take offense to your black and white portrayal of events above.  Also, I have no idea what country you are from, but if you are a native English speaker, chances are you are or were under the British Crown.  In this case, if you want to reach so far back, you should have a more diplomatic tone because the Brits don't exactly have the cleanest record either.

I'm going to start studying Chinese again right now!

(Also, I'm trying to emphasize that I am just throwing out a theory, so that I don't get jumped on too much.  Jumped on a little is splendid, though.)

I was just practicing.  I wasn't trying to win the argument.  Still, Ibelieve my argument is at least possibly true.  I believe that the path of affluence is not linear but curved.  It is possible that China will reach a physical limit before reaching the top.  This isn't my belief, though.  It is my hypothesis.
