When I was first learning Chinese, I had trouble with the 'c' sound.  Then a Chinese friend said it is like 'ts' at the end of sports.  Cleared it up for me.

I think it would be right up Pete's alley if he were to host (with Jenny of course) a series on radicals.  It could be perhaps aimed at intermediate and up poddies.

Chinesepod,

I got to 2:06 in the embedded player's recording, and the lesson started over again.  Perhaps this is a technical problem we all share?

ahem,不好意思,只想问一下,在中文里面, “一个人陪一个人睡觉”一般是一个委婉法吗?

But they are always making new lessons.  You'll never finish if you are too cumpulsive!  (I'm joking.)

That is a great story.  Actually, I once went with a bunch of Chinese colleagues to KTV.  They asked me what I wanted to sing.  I said give me some Beatles.  Revolution popped up.  My hometown buddy and I started singing.  Then it got to the part where it said:

But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow

We went from over the top, blaring vocals to mumbling for that one sentence.

We two were the only ones who got it, of course.

那你是不是一个“高级摇摆乐”迷?我也喜欢King Crimson,再说,也喜欢Yes、ELP。。。哈哈哈!(Don't know if that 高级摇摆乐 was translated right.  I meant progressive rock.)

Despite what I said earlier, I also think some of the language is useful.  I find it interesting that "按摩" is included in the supplementary vocab.

That link is sweet.  Thanks.

I just thought I would add that I'm not just advocating my niche, i.e underground music.  It would be nice to explore all music styles and slant the material towards, shall I say, 'the English speaking world' situations.  Due to the considerable amount of attention cpod has placed on karaoke, my feeling is that karoake can be set aside for awhile.

I hope I'm not sounding too pushy.  I just really love music, but I find many aspects of it aren't covered well here yet.  If no other poddies share my enthusiasm, I can very well accept that.

I have a suggestion.  Every time cpod does a lesson on or related to music, it is always from a Chinese perspective.  Of course it is good for us to know what Chinese people think is cool, how to interact in their environment and so on.  However, how about a lesson for those of us who aren't into sugary pop?  I used to play in bands and used to play loud, loud shows and am not into singing love ballads at KTV.  I would like to be able to talk about going to clubs and seeing local bands, being in the underground music scene, really rocking out and so on.  I know Chinese are almost never into this, but I think it is important to talk about our lives even if (especially if?) Chinese cannot relate.

我记得一次在上海交大的时候,我一天上阅读课,那个时候我们学到一篇武松打虎的文章,那篇的照片和你们cpod的一样的,是不是一张有名的画儿?
