Pete,

我觉得你的故事是个越来越普通的问题，老样子。但你让我想到“Sir Ken Robinson",他有一次在ＴＥＤ展览会演说西方教育的情况。

他提到了很多的话题，比如说政府越来越支持学校主要教科学，数学，物理，等等，少鼓励给学生介绍艺术认识。。

我2008年初在一个中学校教英语了，当那个时候我有一些特别调皮的学生。我给了他们一个惩罚，挑一个中国有名的地方，然后关于它的历史写一百多单词描述有什么有意思的。。

学生交作业的时候我收到惊喜，他们都做得不错。我问了我自己“怎么可能？”...我先查过他们的课本了，没什么关于中国有名的地方。所以我查了其他的年级别的课本，后来我发现高级学生借给他们一些有中国地理内容的书。作业都是抄袭的。

总之我跟学校领导说这件事情了，他没意见。难道他喜欢教外语的概念，不喜欢教法的质量。

我用“文林”软件查过“electric fan" 有什么翻译成中文的单词了，但我找不到。 可以帮我的忙吗？

我有个朋友，他来中国的时也没想到外国插头和中国插头是不一样。后来他把一个外国电动扇子的插头插进去一个中国的插座，不久之后扇子爆炸了。

Although I understand and appreciate the reasons and cultural significance of eating order, I just can't seem to shake the feeling that a good, hardy "动筷子“ at the start of the meal is plenty.

Pete,

Not to sound like a kiss-ass, but I've always thought your translations have been awesome, my Chinese girlfriend is also included in this statement.

I think what draws many people to the Chinese langauge(and culture no less) is the fact that a great deal of it can't be summed up into one "easy to remember" line. I mean, how many of us have been asked how to say 厉害 in English...

I've had some nasty arguements with Taxi drivers. Shanghai was pretty bad, even the ligit taxis tried to pull a few over my eyes.

A really awesome chinese pharse: "Da Biao" Sorry, I don't know the characters but it means, "use the meter".

If not, then find someone who will...

我的西班牙朋友说墨西哥的语言和西班牙的语言有不同的地方。。

对她来说，这句话太搞笑了。。

而且我只会说那句话。请不要给我讲西班牙语。
