My girlfriend and I sometimes use 老公 and 老婆 to address each other. It's a little cutesy and always gets laughed at by other Chinese people but never have I felt it to be inappropriate.

@Kevinjd

From my experience it would be strange to reply in full sentences.
"Do you like Chinese food"
"like!"

Maybe it's because the Chinese langauge's "yes" is much different from English's. For example if someone asked you "Do you like Chinese food" and and then responded "yes". Now that's something I have yet to hear.

@Jenny

At the start of podcast you said the word "stereotype". How can I express that in Chinese. For example:

Oh that's not true, it's just a stereotype

Thanks!

@CPOD

The doctor's voice in this podcast is way too quiet. I can't hear anything she says.

Good question, my only experience with them was in Canada in front of the Chinese consulate. I was strictly told NOT talk to them by friends. Apparently have any form communication(including stopping on the street) with them in China can make your life difficult.

I do a lot of drilling with my students when they are learning numbers. I think it's important to be creative when learning a langauge but somethings just require drill after drill to master, numbers being one of them.

Don't be fooled!!

Distances on the map MAY look like a stone's throw away but in cities in like Shanghai and Beijing they're probably pretty far.

Some cities in China are MASSIVE.
