March 16, 2020 at 9:55 AMIt's because sounds are changed in conversations. If you look up the dictionary for 上 only, it's 4th tone. But if you look it up for 早上, you'll find it's 5th tone. While native speakers talking, listen carefully, and you'll find some sounds of words become different. The more you hear, the more rules of tone-change you'll find.
