March 26, 2019 at 1:38 AMHi there,
There would be value in having both, but there is also value in just having Traditional: If you're studying Traditional, it's perfect. If you're like me and studying Simplified, it gives you exposure to Traditional. Even in the Mainland, you'll run into Traditional, so having at least some exposure is quite helpful.

March 26, 2019 at 1:34 AMHi there!
How many Newbie lessons have you done? ChinesePod typically recommends doing at least 50 Newbies before starting to explore Elementary. If you've already done that many, then you can start occasionally "playing" with Elementary lessons, knowing that they'll be pretty tough.
But don't sweat it: When you start a new level, set your expectations low. Elementary will at first seem impossible, so you'll probably still want to mostly focus on Newbie lessons. Over time, you'll find yourself more and more drawn to Elementary, and less and less interested in Newbie.
There's a great discussion about the process in this lesson here.

March 26, 2019 at 1:26 AMGlad it was useful! Always using the same phrase, like 比如说, can get old after a while. It's great to have alternatives.

This is an old favorite - I should go back and listen again!

I've only ever encountered 也 as a third tone, so you should be safe just learning it as third tone.

March 26, 2019 at 1:41 AMThat's true! Lately I have been pulled into some debates about whether tone changes should be reflected in Pinyin. My preference is to show it. This is especially helpful for learners of Chinese as a foreign language.
