January 18, 2008 at 1:38 AMhi heruilin, Actually, 5 star hotel is grouped into two words like this: (五星级 酒店) wǔxīngjí jiǔdiàn 五星级 (wǔxīngjí) meaning 5 star rank or level, 酒店 (jiǔdiàn) meaning hotel.

January 18, 2008 at 1:36 AMhi Lunetta, When you use 真的吗? (Zhēn de ma?) It doesn't express the same feeling as 废话 (fèihuà). 真的吗? (Zhēn de ma?) means you are asking, questioning, whereas 废话 (fèihuà) is used more to express the feeling that this is something that is a known fact.

To help you, here is a simple break down of which situations which 'de' is used in: 的 (de): connects nouns (N + de + N), indicates possession (N + de), connects adjectives to nouns (Adj + de + N), and comes at the end of sentences as a modal particle (…de.). 得 (de): comes after verbs and is followed by a complement (see V + de + Adj and V + de/bù) 地 (de): comes before verbs in adverbial constructions (see Adj + de + V) Hope that helps a little!
