October 29, 2007 at 2:22 AMhi zhang38, 我家有七口人，姐姐，四个弟弟，妹妹和我。 Wǒjiā yǒu qī kǒu rén, jiějie, sì ge dìdi, mèimei hé wǒ. Almost perfect, except that the 口 (kǒu) measure word is only used when asking how many family members, all together. When speaking of each of them specifically, you use the 个 (ge) measure word.

October 28, 2007 at 10:43 PMI went for a massage yesterday in honour of this massage question from Douglas. I forgot to mention about how some of the masseuses stick their fingers right into your ears and massage in there...! It's a little weird!

October 26, 2007 at 9:42 AMhi toinou, Some Chinese words don't have an exact equivalent in English, and this is one of them. Depends on the context as well. I like to think of 气质 (qìzhì) like the ambiance a restaurant has, except in a person. We really don't have an equivalent for the exact feeling of this word in English... Maybe like 'an air' a person has about them. Hope that doesn't confuse you more, hehe!

October 29, 2007 at 2:48 AMazul, Here are some example sentences to illustrate the difference between each of those words: 访问 (fǎngwèn) to visit 总统下个月要访问中国。 Zǒngtǒng xià ge yuè yào fǎngwèn Zhōngguó. The president will visit China next month. 参观 (cānguān) to tour 他们去参观工厂了。 Tāmen qù cānguān gōngchǎng le. They went to tour the factory. 完 (wán) to finish (usually attached behind another verb to show that action has been completed) 作业做完了。 Zuòyè zuòwán le. (I've) finished the assignment. 结束 (jiéshù) to conclude 会议结束了。 Huìyì jiéshù le. The meeting has concluded.
