September 9, 2008 at 1:26 AMThanks goes to all the Los Angeles group entrants who submitted their own personalized Los Angeles lesson intro. The winner was Xiaohu! Beautifully written. Actually they were all equally as good, so i just had to close my eyes and pick one! Yay for LA!

September 8, 2008 at 10:03 AMhi light487, and Chris,
When a sentence is in the negative, you use the 是 (shì), i.e.
我不是很好。
(Wǒ bù shì hěn hǎo.)
今天不是很热。
(Jīntiān bù shì hěn rè.)
In the affirmative, we omit the 是 (shì), and instead use 很 (hěn) 好 (hǎo), 非常(fēicháng) etc., i.e.
我很好。(Wǒ hěn hǎo)
他们好笨。(Tāmen hǎo bèn.)
他们很笨。(Tāmen hěn bèn.)
