March 26, 2008 at 8:29 AMhi lunetta, 毛线 (máoxiàn) refers to any kind of yarn, not necessarily woolen. If you wanted to specifically ask for cotton yarn, you could say: 要棉的毛线 (yào mián de máoxiàn.)

March 26, 2008 at 1:43 AMHi Boran and Chris, ...在台北学的 (...zài Táiběi xué de) This sentence emphasises that it was in the past using the 是...的 (shì...de) sentence pattern. It is just that in this sentence, the 是 (shì) is omitted, as it often is. It sounds very odd to say 在台北学了 (zài Táiběi xué le).

March 24, 2008 at 7:54 AMhi Andrew, It's really just a sentence pattern which means 'on the book' -- 在书上 (zài shū shàng) The same pattern applies for other locations: 在...下 (zài .... xià) 'under the ... ' 在.... 里 (zài ....lǐ) 'in the ... ' 在... 外... (zài .... wài）'outside of the ... '

March 27, 2008 at 2:01 AMhi agentchuck, You can double up the 无论 (wúlùn), like this: 无论这是谁说的，无论你在哪里听见的，都不要相信。 Wúlùn zhè shì shéi shuō de, wúlùn nǐ zài nǎli tīngjiàn de, dōu bùyào xiāngxìn.
