March 21, 2008 at 2:58 AMhi smjd323, 都 is a 多音词 (duōyīncí) which means a character with more than one possible pronunciation. So, 都 can be either: 都 (dōu) 'all', or 都 (dū) as in '首都' (shǒudū)

March 20, 2008 at 1:27 AMum, ahem... hehe... OK sballa, yes, to call the repair/recycling men you can use the universal Chinese "HEY!!!": 喂喂喂 ...... !!!! (Wèi wèi wèi!!!!!!) (often said in 3's!) and can even throw in a 等一下 (děng yīxià) and they'll be sure to wait for you.
